Drop: Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use Policy

Version 2.0 · Effective September 3, 2026

Drop exists to help verified Brandeis students make real, spontaneous plans and meet up in person. That only works if the community is safe, respectful, and genuine. These Community Guidelines are part of our Terms of Service and apply to everything you do on Drop: the plans you post, the messages you send, your profile, and how you treat other people.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behavior toward other users. Breaking these Guidelines can result in content removal, loss of features, or permanent removal from Drop.

The basics

Content and conduct that is not allowed

You may not post, share, send, or engage in any of the following:

Harassment and abuse. Bullying, harassment, stalking, threats, intimidation, or targeted attacks against any person. Encouraging others to harass someone. Sharing content intended to demean, humiliate, or shame.

Hate. Content that attacks, demeans, or promotes hatred or violence against people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease.

Violence and dangerous behavior. Threats of violence; content that promotes, encourages, or coordinates violence or harm against people or property; content that promotes terrorism or violent extremism; content that facilitates dangerous or illegal activities.

Sexual content and exploitation. Pornography or sexually explicit content. Non-consensual intimate imagery. Sexual harassment. Any content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the appropriate authorities. There are no exceptions.

Self-harm. Content that promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders. (If you or someone you know is struggling, please seek help, for example, by calling or texting 988 in the U.S.)

Illegal activity. Content that facilitates the sale of illegal drugs or regulated goods, human trafficking, fraud, or any other illegal activity. Using Drop to plan or promote unlawful gatherings or acts.

Deception and spam. Scams, phishing, fraud, or deceptive schemes. Spam, unsolicited advertising, chain messages, or manipulative or "bot" behavior. Fake plans or plans posted in bad faith.

Privacy violations. Posting other people's private or identifying information without their consent ("doxxing"). Sharing private communications without permission.

Intellectual property. Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights. (See our DMCA / Copyright Policy.)

Platform abuse. Attempting to hack, disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service; circumventing safety features, blocks, or bans; scraping or harvesting data; or using automated tools to access the Service.

Meeting in person

Drop encourages in-person plans, and most interactions are positive, but you are meeting real people. Follow our Safety Guidelines: meet in public, tell a friend where you're going, and trust your instincts. Never pressure anyone, never ignore someone's boundaries, and never put another person's safety at risk. Conduct that endangers others will result in removal.

How we enforce these Guidelines

We reserve the right to make enforcement decisions in our sole discretion to protect the community, consistent with our Terms of Service.

Reporting an urgent safety concern

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the U.S.) or Brandeis Public Safety first. Then report the content or user in the App, or email us at support@dropitnow.app so we can take action.

These Guidelines may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be posted in the App.
