Drop: Safety Guidelines
Version 2.0 · Effective September 3, 2026
Drop is about meeting real people and making real plans. Most of the time that's exactly what happens, but whenever you meet someone you don't already know well, it's worth being thoughtful about your safety. Please read these guidelines and use good judgment every time.
What Drop does, and what it doesn't
Drop verifies that each account is tied to a Brandeis @brandeis.edu email address. That helps keep Drop a Brandeis-only community, but please understand its limits:
- We do not run background checks on anyone, and we do not screen or investigate users.
- We do not verify anyone's identity, character, or intentions beyond confirming a Brandeis email.
- Email verification is not a safety guarantee. A verified account does not mean a person is who they say they are, or that they are safe to meet.
You are responsible for your own safety and for your interactions with others. Treat everyone you meet through Drop as you would anyone new.
Before you meet
- Meet in public. Choose a busy, well-lit, public campus spot for a first meetup. Avoid private or isolated locations.
- Tell someone. Let a friend or roommate know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back.
- Keep your own plan. Arrange your own way there and back so you're never dependent on someone you just met.
- Protect your personal information. Don't share your address, financial information, class schedule, or other sensitive details with someone you don't know and trust.
- Check the plan details. Look at where the drop is, who's hosting, and how many people are going before you commit.
While you're there
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, you don't owe anyone an explanation: leave.
- Stay in control. Be cautious with alcohol or other substances, and never leave your drink or belongings unattended.
- Respect boundaries, yours and theirs. Consent matters in every interaction. No one is ever obligated to do anything they're not comfortable with. Never pressure anyone, and never ignore someone telling you "no."
- Keep your phone charged and with you.
If something goes wrong
- In an emergency, call 911 or contact Brandeis Public Safety at 781-736-3333 right away. Your immediate safety comes first.
- Block the user. You can block anyone in the App at any time; they'll no longer be able to interact with you.
- Report it. Use the in-app reporting tools to report a user, drop, message, or comment. We review reports and aim to act on objectionable content within 24 hours. For urgent concerns you can also email support@dropitnow.app.
- You can delete your account at any time from within the App.
